Kingdom Worldview Seminar
Two central issues have surfaced in church at the end of 20th century:
1. Family disintegration
2. Lack of leadership
Weak parents make weak leaders
Singapore worldview is pragmatism
Therefore we take a "whatever works and will get people to come" approach
Christianity centres round events
Events on their own cannot develop disciples
Events create a weak point of connection to the church
We are feeding into a consumer mindset
In other words, we are feeding the flesh
Events do not require God to be present or active
Unintentionally we have created a gospel that does not require transformation
Now, believers are undiscipled
Non discipleship is not biblical: it's killing the church
Disciple making is the process of reaching the lost, mentoring believers in their intimacy and walk with Christ, and equipping each as spiritual parent to go and do likewise
It happens naturally when Christians live in community
It is apprenticeship
Matthew 4:19
Christ calls us towards spiritual transformation
Acts 11:26
A Christian is a disciple
2 Timothy 2:2
Deu 6:1-9
If Christ is real, He should manifest in our key relationships
(The devil will be glad to keep us busy with church activities and see our families fall apart)
1 John 2:12-14
Unless the homes win, the church cannot win
The church should assemble to worship and equip believers without pressure to entertain the crowds
How?
1. Build a process that leads to a multi generational multiplication of fully devoted followers of Christ
2. Shape cell groups to become training ground for disciple makers
3. Nurture faith at home
Matthew 16:18
Jesus' job is to build His church
Matthew 28:19
Ours is to make disciples
